42 Acres

Self-Catered Stays

Elegant simplicity in the heart of nature

Our beautiful accommodation ranges from luxurious barn conversions to a secluded lakeside-barge. Each space is consciously restored, and furnished using sustainable, locally-sourced, natural materials. The result is cosy, nurturing sanctuaries that offer peace, calm and quiet.

Our interiors are inspired by Satish’s Kumar’s philosophy of elegant simplicity – weaving ecological integrity, social equity, and personal tranquillity. You’ll find high quality fixtures and fittings, luxurious linens, fluffy towels and local, organic toiletries. Each space is powered by renewable energy.

Outside, you’ll find yourselves nestled in nature. You’re welcome to roam 173 acres of ancient forest, rewilded meadows, and a 7-acre lake. Depending on the time of year, pick an apple from a tree or visit the magical bluebell woods; witness murmurations of starlings; thousands of tiny froglets; or huge charms of goldfinches.

‘Can’t recommend highly enough. Booked this place to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and my wife spent the entire time saying ‘I can’t believe you found the PERFECT place!’ We had an absolutely magical time, saw beavers, deer, herons, hares and loads of other wonderful nature. The boat is super cosy, and sitting on the little dock just enjoying the surroundings was blissful.’

‘What a amazing experience we’ve just had at 42 Acres. We stayed in Monks Hatch, a beautiful 2 bedroom cottage, with amazing views over the countryside. We saw 3 deer grazing in the field next to the cottage, the famous hare, and a huge red fox. Wouldn’t hesitate recommending 42 Acres to anyone wanting a chill out few days in nature filled countryside. This must have been the most relaxing break we’ve ever had.’

We enjoyed exploring the grounds and the girls loved the tree house. The lake was also a hit, we enjoyed swimming and using the boats and paddle boards. Would highly recommend and hope to return one day soon.’

‘Absolutely beautiful and peaceful location. Highly recommended for anyone who likes to connect with nature in an eco-friendly way. Take some time to explore all the grounds, the beaver trails, the tree house and the very calming woods. The boat is a lovely, snuggly place to stay with a great hot shower if it’s chilly in the morning. Highly recommend the experience!.’

‘The most incredible location with fantastic, long walks on the doorstep on which you rarely see anyone else and are just immersed in nature. The barn itself is well designed with comfortable sofas from which to watch TV and relax. Good power on the shower, well heated, and lots of hot water! A great stay and we shall definitely be back.’

’42 acres is beautifully presented, the kitchen was well equipped, the giant projector was great and everything was clean and tidy with plenty of space for 4. ‘We had an enchanting stay at Monks Hatch. The property was really warm, spacious and clean. The kitchen was very well equipped. Though we weren’t lucky enough to spot the beavers, our 2 boys loved rambling around the lake and exploring the treehouse… Wellies recommended! Thanks also to the lovely member of staff who chatted to us on arrival all about 42 Acres.’
